Mission Statement

Welcome, everyone! I’m Gino W., the lead editor of the site. We just wanted to post this to introduce you to some of the people that will be posting on this page in the future. I’ll be back at the very end to tell you more about our organization, and our mission in general. For now, let’s start with Aaron F.

Hey, what up people, it’s Aaron and I’m a chairman of the Committee for Police Embetterment. Our mission is to bring awareness to police accountability. I’ve been around the block and back, and I’ve realized that the way the police have been working lately is pretty twisted. Edward Snowden once said “Police officers kill more Americans than terrorism, yet we’ve been asked to sacrifice our most sacred rights for fear of falling victim to it.” I’m here tell people we need stop the partying and raise awareness to police accountability.  I’ll be the this first one to say that cops are pretty rad dudes. They are the people that protect us from bad stuff and we need be thankful for what they do. But get me straight, the police have a lot of power and if a cop were to abuse his power that would be “no bueno”. According to a police study 84% of police officers have witnessed excessive brutality when another officer made an arrest. This is wild and shows that there’s a lot of room for improvement. Police accountability can be a big problem if no has a voice to bring this issue to peoples eyes.

Hi everybody, I’m Cade V., and we are starting a police accountability advocacy group hoping to increase the efficiency of  our community’s defenders of justice. There is a lot of buzz on the news about police doing wrong and there being no way to prove their wrongdoings. We all know how our justice system works, police word trumps any normal citizen’s voice. A lot of times the police will use there authority to get things they want, and keep people quiet through fear. For example, sex is a prevalent issue, with the arresting of prostitutes: 14% of crimes reported against police are accusations of sex crimes. We need to implement a way to make cops take more responsibility for their actions. Our mission Is to raise awareness and get more people to report wrongdoing in our Police.

My name is Lawrence D. I am here to talk about police accountability. There are many instances in the United States where the police don’t do their job correctly. You hear many stories about the abuses of police power, including unlawful arrests and entries as well as poor treatment towards suspects and criminals. About 74% of people who had force or threats used against them felt that it was excessive. This leads to miscarriages of justice and feelings of animosity towards our police force. Our jobs as citizens of the United States is to police the police, and do everything we can to improve it. This Committee is dedicated to improving the quality of our police force by raising awareness about our nation’s police problems. As Antonio Villaraigosa said, “Let me be clear – no one is above the law. Not a politician, not a priest, not a criminal, not a police officer. We are all accountable for our actions.”

Hey! It’s me, Gino, again and as I said above I’d like to give you a little bit of background on our committee, the Committee of Police Embetterment, and what we do. Now, we understand that the Police have a difficult, taxing job, and everyone makes mistakes. We founded the group keeping in mind what President Barack Obama said, in a speech of his, “Understand, our police officers put their lives on the line for us every single day. They’ve got a tough job to do to maintain public safety and hold accountable those who break the law.” We know that they have a tough job, but we are here to make sure that the Police are held accountable for actions if they are purposefully negligent, or corrupt. Police negligence, misconduct, and corruption is a big issue. Did you know that 61% of officers do not always report abuse of authority by other officers, this among other interesting facts can be shown in this set of statistics. After hearing of such incidents we felt like our community needed an outlet for it’s opinions and it’s voice, and founded this advocacy group page. I urge anyone who wants to write in with comments, stories, suggestions and other input. Thank you for joining us. I hope we’ll be seeing you read the rest of our posts as they come up! Bye!
